On March 03, 1865 an act of the U.S. Congress created a banking institution for the benefit of freed slaves.  Information that maybe found in records from this database are:

-Name of Depositor
-Date of Entry
-Place Born
-Place Brought Up
-Residence
-Age
-Complexion
-Name of Employer
-Names of Spouses, Children, & Parents
-Remarks
-Signatures
-Sometimes the name of the former master or mistress as well as the name of the plantation is included.
-Death Certificates have been microfilmed and put on file with some depositor records as well
